Sadhus and Fakirs

What do sadhus and fakirs have in common? Both have renounced conventional ways of the world and taken refuge in grace of God and people. Their uncommon way of life greatly interests me so, I took some time to photograph them during a religious ceremony called Vivaha Panchami in Janakpur, Nepal. It is believed that a Hindu god – Lord Ram, and a Hindu goddess – Mata Sita, got married on this day, ages ago, in this town in southern Nepal. Hindu devotees, sadhus, and fakirs alike make the pilgrimage to this holy city to receive the blessings.
