In Hinduism, babas wearing yellow robe symbolize renunciation of desires and detachment from sensory gratification. Similar to babas but often overlooked, bhikaris (beggars) have very little material possessions and congregate around temples. Babas voluntarily give up worldly pleasures and material possessions so, they are revered in our society for their sacrifice, restraint, and wisdom. Meanwhile, bhikaris end up in desolate conditions, often due to unfortunate circumstances beyond their control and are looked down upon as lazy or unlucky. Both babas and bhikaris depend on religious establishments, and mercy of divine/human beings.
